AHIMA unveils privacy research findings
In anticipation of the first anniversary of the implementation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) final privacy rule, AHIMA conducted a survey. The survey, titled, "The State of HIPAA Privacy and Security Compliance," provides insight into the reality of HIPAA compliance one year later.

National Health Information Privacy and Security Week
The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) has identified
April 11 through 17,
2004 as National Health Information Privacy and Security Week. Privacy and Security Week is designed
to raise awareness among health care professionals, their employers, and the public of the importance
of protecting the privacy, confidentiality, and security of personal health information.
